09:13 pm: Oh my God.
HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS BEFORE.

Genius, sheer bloody genius.

The plot of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, as a filk of T.S. Eliot's The Wastelands.

10:39 pm: Now that's original.
(From the manga Rin! as translated by Mochi*Mochi)

Kou: Sorry. Was I going too fast for you? If you really don't like it, I'll stop...

Katsura: You'll...stop...?

Kou: Stupid...! It'll be rape if I don't! I can't just force you, you know.

Katsura: Um, but I don't really hate it...

Kou: You didn't look like you were enjoying it, either.

Wow. A yaoi manga where, when the uke says no, it means no. Where, when the uke *looks uncomfortable*, it means no. Author, can I marry you?

I really love the Internet sometimes.

The Art of Skittlebrau

Things that you should not do in your microwave. As the man who runs the site says, get one at a yard sale instead.

07:34 pm: Phoenix again!
So I'm back at my parents' house after checking out of the dorms and all. Thank God classes are over-! My fish and my plants seem to have survived the journey hale and hearty, although the fist are badly in need of a new filter for their tank.

On the way back to Phoenix I saw a white ostrich jogging calmly south along I-10. Head bobbing, taller than any of the cars (although, being an intelligent ostrich, it was down in the ditch next to the side of the road) - I wonder if it was an escapee from the big ostrich farm along that freeway? If so, it had gone nearly 50 miles.

I love surreal touches in an otherwise mundane day. One white ostrich, ignoring the traffic and heading south.

The only thing that would've been better is seeing one of our Arizona camels.

08:08 pm: The things you learn.
Heh. So there's actually an amusing anecdote in the pages from Cosmo which someone in our hall rips out and pastes up in the bathroom every month. Apparently, Britney Spears asked for a tattoo of the Japanese characters for "mysterious" right below her waistline.

The character that was actually tattooed there means "strange."

This is why you need to do more than consult a dictionary before permanently tattooing yourself....

Also, according to a study done in Finland, drinking more than 4 1/2 cups of coffee every day can lower your risk of Type II diabetes. The researchers don't know why. Perhaps I should get myself some decaf and hope that it isn't the caffeine that makes coffee a magic bullet against diabetes...?

(The average person in Finland drinks 9 cups of coffee every day. Yeesh. I wonder what their national rates for gastrointestinal disorders are. Didn't Napoleon die of a possibly coffee-acidity-caused ulcer?)
